JCEDC Lease Subsidy Grant Application

This grant opportunity supports the growth and success of Jersey City small businesses by providing grant funding to cover a year of lease payments up to a maximum grant amount of $52,000.
This grant is funded by UEZ (Urban Enterprise Zone) Assistance Funds. Funds are limited.

Eligibility:

Must be a Jersey City UEZ (Urban Enterprise Zone) Certified Business
Have a new signed commercial lease in Jersey City. Lease must have been executed between January 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025 to be eligible for this grant. The lease must be for a minimum 3-year term not including options. Lease can be for a business expansion or relocation.
Franchises, Mobile and Home Businesses are ineligible.
Please be advised, New Jersey State law prohibits cannabis businesses from becoming UEZ Certified and receiving economic incentives. Therefore, cannabis businesses are ineligible for this grant.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Documentation Requirements: (To be uploaded in application)

Proof of UEZ Certification (Current UZ4 or UZ5 form; If newly UEZ Certified, provide a copy ofyour approval email and UEZ File #).
Last two tax returns (or personal tax returns if in business less than 2 years)
Business plan demonstrating job creation
Profit & Loss Statements
Signed commercial lease agreement
NJ Business Registration Certificate
NJ Tax Clearance Letter
