TRANSPORTATION
But no other community has all of them in combination with a central location in the heart of the largest single market in the U.S., nor does any community have a more comprehensive system of transportation than does Jersey City.
When it comes to convenient access for commuting workers, Jersey City is served by four main ferry lines that link Newport, Harborside, Exchange Place and Liberty Marina with Manhattan's Midtown and Financial districts.
A commuter rail system links Jersey City with Manhattan, Hoboken, and Newark from four conveniently-located stations. Additionally, Journal Square in the center of Jersey City is connected via Port Authority Trans Hudson (PATH) rail and bus lines to
Amtrak and NJ Transit lines in Newark or Manhattan's Penn Station.
Connections with the NJ Turnpike, I-78, I-95, I-280, and Routes 1 & 9 tie Jersey City into the U.S. highway stem for both commuters, and businesses moving goods via truck.
For goods that have to move by rail, Jersey City is coupled to the north-east's rail network and conveniently located halfway between eight rail freight rail centers in NYC and Newark. Conrail's lines run through the heart of the city.
Nearby, there are daily connections at Hudson County's intermodal terminals for domestic and international traffic via trailer-on-flat car (TOFC) container-on-flat car (COFC) and double-stack train (DST) for all container ports in North America.
Import/export companies in Jersey City that depend on access to seaports also have their
bases covered by the Global Terminal and Port Authority Auto Marine Terminal in Jersey City, as well as the deep water ports and facilities in nearby Newark, Elizabeth, and New York. North America.
Air travel, both international and domestic, are necessities of the
business world today. Jersey City is less than 10 miles from Newark International Airport, a 20 minute trip by car or truck. LaGuardia and JFK International airports are both within 25 miles. For business travelers, Jersey City is less than 30 minutes from Teterboro Airport, the busiest corporate air hub in the U.S.
With its central location, and proximity to rail, highway, and sea transportation connections, Jersey City is an ideal location for businesses that ship or receive air cargo at any of these airports.
