The Jersey City EDC is home to New Jersey’s premier UEZ program—one of the largest and most productive with nearly 600 active UEZ certified businesses.
The Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Program was created to foster an economic climate that revitalizes designated urban communities and stimulates their growth by encouraging businesses to start and develop private-sector jobs through public and private investment.

One-third of Jersey City is designated as an Urban Enterprise Zone.

The UEZ Program offers participating businesses a number of tax and other financial incentives that help to grow businesses and stimulate local economies.

Under the UEZ Program, sales tax revenues generated by UEZ businesses are dedicated for economic development projects within the Zone.

Businesses participating in the UEZ Program can charge half the standard sales tax rate on certain purchases. Additionally, UEZ member businesses may enjoy tax exemptions on certain purchases, and manufacturers may qualify for sales tax exemption on their energy and utility services when they meet specified employment (and other) criteria.

Please phone our office at 201-333-7797 to verify whether your business is located within the Zone, and to request a UEZ Program application.
